Prana is the ultimate “balancing factor” of the human physiology. According to the ancient Vedic medical texts, prana connects the body to the soul, as well as to the mind and heart. Prana is the life-force. The Vedic texts explain how the human soul, a vibration partaking of the nature of God, is the kernel around which the human physiology is organized. The seat of the soul is the human heart. The body interacts with its soul, in the heart, through prana. Prana flows into the physiology from nature, the environment, and the body is set-up such that it can incorporate this prana into itself.

Health Tips from the Vaidya

The following tips from Vaidya Mishra are simple but effective basics for strengthening your health:

General health recommendations

Start your day with stewed apples followed by unprocessed whole grain cereal. Avoid nightshades (potato, tomato, bell pepper, egglplant). Avoid large beans (favaore yellow mung dahl and french lentils). Avoid bananas. Avoid winter squash and instead favor summer squashes (zuchchini, yellow squash, etc). No processed food, no left-overs, no food with preservatives, no canned foods, and no sour/acidic foods (like vinegar and bottled dressings, instead favor the use of lime for such seasoning).

Transdermal recommendations

Apply transdermals on the targeted marma points using the ring finger, in a gentle clockwise concentric motion, for a repitition of 7, 14, or 21 times. Breath gently and deeply through the nose, taking the breath down to the lower abdomen. After applying the cream, press gently with the thumb for a minute or so and breath deeply.

Spice recipe

Cooking method: first add water to the pan and then add olive oil or ghee followed by the spice mixture prescribed. Heat for a minute or two until an aroma develops, and then add your choice of vegetables (or chicken/fish if recommended). This procedue will ensure that prana is present at its utmost as water is the medium to deliver the prana. When serving, sprinkle your food with the spice recipe as well.

Herbalized water

Boil 2 quarts of water and pour into a thermos containing your prescribed herbalized water recipe. Use whole seeds or herbs, not powders. Favor the organic variety of whole spice which is available from health food stores. Sip this water throughout the day, but no later than 5PM. It is best to pour smaller amounts into a cup and let the water cool before sipping. For maximum effectiveness, breath slowly and deeply after taking 4-5 sips. Make a fresh batch daily, discarding any unused portions in the evening.

Deep breathing guidelies

Breath in from your nose and try to take the breath all the way down to the navel area, as that is the area of transmission to the rest of the body. If te breath stops about that area, the oxygen goes to the brain but is not fully distributed to the rest of the body. Try to breath this way as much as possible.
